St. John's International School Bangkok
British curriculum, preK-12
The emphasis of our work at Saint John’s is upon high achievement, respect for one another and a need to educate the whole child. When you visit our school you will see all these priorities in evidence and we are proud of our students' abilities to work hard, create suitable relationships, and develop new skills and knowledge with enthusiasm. We believe that children learn best when they are actively involved and interested but above all we believe a child's school experiences should promote a natural curiosity and interest in the world around them where learning is exciting, challenging and fun!
Our approach arises out of the best of the United Kingdom government and independent education systems, as well as the best practices in international education. We prepare our international students for UK I/GCSE, AS and A level examinations, at age 16 and 18 respectively. All of our students are provided with an education that prepares them to move seamlessly into any schooling system, as well as to gain entrance to universities in Thailand and elsewhere throughout the world.
Our kindergarten curriculum is focused on 4 areas: independence and interdependence, communicating, exploring and healthy living. These areas reflect the key skills and capacities that all children need in order to develop and learn effectively, and prepare them for the next stages of school.
In the Primary School we follow the International Primary Curriculum and also makes use of the national and cultural heritage of Thailand. We have high expectations of our pupils and our aim is to achieve excellence not only in the teaching of core subjects, but also in providing a wide range of rich experiences which enhance their learning.
Saint John's International School Middle School follows an adapted version of the English National Curriculum, with the use of the International Middle Years Curriculum, alongside the national and cultural heritage of Thailand to deliver the skills, knowledge and understanding being learnt. Middle school is an important transition between our Primary Section and our High School, academically and socially.
Saint John's International School High School is split into two phases. Phase 1 : Grades 9 and 10 (Amber Class) and Phase 2 : Grades 11 and 12 (Ruby Class). During phase 1 students are prepared for International GCSE exams (international versions of external exams taken by students in England). These external exams are the international equivalent of the exams taken by students in England in grade 10. In phase 2, our students take courses which prepare them for entrance to University, in Thailand and around the world. To obtain our High School Diploma students must complete both phase 1 and phase 2.
