Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School (Bangkok Prep)
British curriculum, preK-13
Welcome to Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School (“Bangkok Prep”). We are a private co-educational school now in its 8th year of operation. The school was officially ordained by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in June 2006.
The programme of study is based on the National Curriculum of England, offering a quality education to pupils from Nursery up to Year 12. We offer a rigorous ‘IGCSE’ programme to Year 10 and 11 students as a precursor to the Cambridge-approved ‘A’ Levels available to study in Years 12 and 13, thus preparing students towards University education. Developments are in place to make Bangkok Prep “the best mid-sized international school in Thailand.”
Currently, Bangkok Prep is a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS), New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT), Thailand International Schools Activities Conference (TISAC) as well as the Cambridge University-approved ‘IGCSE’ and ‘A’ level examination center. We were recently the recipient of The Prime Minister's Export Award 2009 in International Education and the award for “Outstanding Achievement in School Development and Management” at the World Education/Education Living Expo 2010, which acknowledged our achievements in growth and development.
Bangkok Prep is located in a safe, secure and prime residential area of Bangkok, situated adjacent to the Thong-Lo sky train station in the heart of the Sukhumvit area. It is perhaps the most conveniently located international school in Bangkok.
The school offers state-of-the-art facilities comprising a new indoor sports complex with dance and drama studios, an elevated indoor jogging track, and a regulation size multipurpose indoor sports hall along with a 25 meter outdoor swimming pool. In addition, there are primary and secondary libraries, computer and science laboratories, several playgrounds and a multi purpose sports field. A new Theatre and music practice rooms will be completed in 2010, along with a new Outdoor Early Years Learning Centre.
Bangkok Prep provides an education where students can prepare for life and realize their full potential through a stimulating and challenging international learning community. We aspire to an appreciation of cultural diversity and a willingness to embrace social and personal responsibility.
Our mid-sized school creates a warm, caring, supportive environment that is the Bangkok Prep community. The student-teacher ratio is excellent with the average class size of 18 pupils. This highlights a nurturing learning experience for our pupils. Our fully qualified teaching team is here to make sure that the students are happy and progressing well at Bangkok Prep.
The school is very proud of its international outlook to education. Over thirty nationalities are represented in our school and we celebrate our cultural diversity. Students will develop their own sense of identity whilst recognizing and empathizing with other cultures, traditions and beliefs.
With enrolment now reaching over 500 student bodies, everyone is well-connected with strong friendships across different year levels and cultures. Bangkok Prep students are intellectually stimulated, cheerful, motivated and hard-working.
The students’ lives also extend beyond the academic day with extramural sports competition with other schools, sports coaching programs, tutoring club and an extensive exciting after-school activity programme with over 50 clubs such as Bowling, Paint Balling, Ice Skating, Cricket, Tennis, Photography, Rock Band, and much more.
We have active student councils and after-school activities that have a community service focus to them. The residential trips and a number of the field trips organized across the school are also linked into environmental and community service programmes.
We have a very active, close-knit and valued parents association called ‘Friends of Bangkok Prep’ (FOBP), who regularly become involved with the school on a variety of occasions throughout the year. FOBP organise coffee mornings for parents, support special days and get involved in many international events. This is a good opportunity to meet up with parents, build social ties and discuss ideas that you have for the school.
